But it was bad for me too when she told me all that happened... heart really went out to her.

But in the end its her choice.

This you will not be able to understand, because you're not a girl.
The fact that they were together once probably means that she once loved him. Deeply or not you have to ask her.

Yeah maybe you're right... why am I putting myself so much into the situation when I'm not officially declare that I'm her bf cos we didnt meet up before (webcam not counted.) At least to me, I wont take the initial step to even fly over to meet someone just as friend when I'm still coped up with my study and working till very late to earn the expenses for my school fees, rental, food etc...

You seem like you're struggling with your current worklife now. Are you sure you can support a gf, who's from overseas?

At first, I sees her as friend.. then through the conversation, I found someone who can understand me and my feeling begin to grow for her.. I must admit that she's having a tough life there and I really wanted her to live with comfortable life. I may have nothing now but for her, I would work very hard. This is not love at first sight... as least I think not through webcam or photo. It's about the communication when we actually talks for hrs in long distance call.

Nothing wrong about liking people through chats in msn. But you have to realise that the world is different outside of msn. The feeling of when you all meet may be different. Maybe the way she flips her hair may turn you off.

All these and more can only be decided when the two of you meet.

Some people unable to let go of their past? why? wanted to get hurt from the same guy twice?

As i said, she may love him too deeply in the past to want to let go. I know a person who has been 'suffering' in a relationship for close to 8 years. But she's unwilling to let go because of one reason that's obvious to me.

She has put in too much, and she doesn't want it to end. So much so that she's willing to put up with more 'abuse'.

Is this love? Stupidity or what?

Anyways the only person who can decides whether to let go or not is her.

• You say you are both matured. She's 23, you're 21.

Yet she's still in contact with her ex, who has made her go for an abortion. Which is perfectly normal if you ask me. Many people are unable to let go of the past.

Then you tell us that you can accept her having an abortion, but cannot accept the both of them still together as friends?

Then now you don't want her to come over anymore, or if she does, as friends?

What are you thinking about in your mind?

1st off the topic doesn't reflect the paramount important problem of your story.
You're actually going to meet someone who's flying over to see you for the first time in real life (web-cam not counted). The feelings can be really different as compared to through the net.

Secondly, she's not even your girlfriend yet. For God's sake, you have not even seen her! Why are you thinking so much about them still being in contact?

Perhaps you should set your priorities right.

Do you love her, do you want her as a friend, or are you just sorry for her?

And now their tactics had changed. They no longer asked you for your bank account number outright but they insist thay I have to go to Macau personally to claim the prize, then pay 2.5% to the Macau Social Welfare Depatment or something like dat.
So I played along with them loh, to see when they will start asking me for my bank account number. So when the "lawyer" called, I asked him for his license number so I can check with the relevant authorities that he start giving some stupid excuses...*lol* I say I will call him back to arrange an appointment wih him when I settle my matters in singapore to fly over there.. Like I will ever will..
We shall see if they dare to call me back again.
I also called the CAD this morning to report this case, and the officer in charge said they have recieved several calls regarding this venetian macau thing.

• I got led through this process to the end too.

some HK person called up, ask me do survey, then say they got stef sun to partake in their event.

They doing something for the IR in SG, then told me to stay tuned for their show, or to be there.

But HK leh, impossible to be there one what. 1 week later call me told me i win 3rd prize, then say dun need to pay anything, a few days later the lawyer office will call me.

The lawyer guy called me, then asked for all my particulars. I gave it to them, thought wah really got chance to win prize lei. $66,666 not small sum! (Yea, why all the sixes again? they tie up with someone we know is it?), and they said they'll put it in an account.

Then ask me to call this number (presumably a bank), and got automatic record one. damn power. I had to key in my bank account number and then the recorded voice told me i had $66,666 inside.

Ah yes, the guy also told me to be nice, and look at their sponsor's website, which is entirely in chinese, and looks rather.. normal.

Later then the lawyer said i had to put in 3k worth for 5% of the taxes thing, cause he quote me some statute that in HK any prizes won above $10k must have a cert or something.

It was all very cleverly done, to make me think i had really won something.

But of course i'm not so stupid to just pay the 3k. Heck, i don't even HAVE 3k. He told me to lend from someone, then say can pay back a few minutes after i get the money.

What made me initially suspicious was that while i was talking to the 2 of them, got other people call in and thank them for getting the money.

I did some research, and i found out that their logo was actually from some other REAL hotel. the website's down now but it used to be dyent88.com

Other than my personal particulars, and some HK airtime, i didn't lose much. But i learnt that if its too good to be true, it usually is.

I think what these companies do, is to paint a very realistic picture of everything. Invite you for events that is just not possible for you to attend, then tell you that you've won some big prize.

Its not just greed that they're playing on. I mean, who could not use an extra few thousand ? or a few hundred thousand? This is the same principle as buying 4d, Toto mah.

But yea, do keep a look-out for these companies. I actually got a missed call 2 times before i picked up the third time (in the span of 2 weeks).

• YOU suspect your wife is having an affair with a politician. So you hire a private investigator (PI) to find out more.

In the past, that may not have been a problem.

But under the Private Security Industry Bill, PIs will need to watch where they snoop, and think about who they are snooping on.

Under the Bill, which was passed in Parliament yesterday, the PI will first need approval from the Government if he wants to spy on a politician.

The bill requires all security guards and PIs to be licensed.

And anyone who wants to investigate politicians or their family members have to first apply for approval from a government licensing officer.

Those who don't, face a fine of up to $50,000, which has been jacked up from the current $10,000 maximum, or a two-year jail term, or both.

The move aims to ensure PIs do not gather information or conduct surveillance which may threaten public interest or national security, Minister for Home Affairs Wong Kan Seng explained.

But, Non-Constituency MP SylviaLim asked, what if the politician is suspected to be involved in an affair?

'That has nothing to do with national security,' she said.

'Are we erecting a firewall around politicians?'

The Workers' Party chairman also raised the possibility of 'leaks' to the politician in question, when PIs apply for approval.

Mr Wong, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, replied: 'Singaporean ministers are all open - they go to the constituencies and they attend functions and of course, people do observe.

LEGITIMATE REASON

'But if you have a specific assignment to go and case a minister, then there must be reason why you want to do that and if the reason is legitimate, there's no reason why the approval will not be given.'

Mr Wong added that the clause is to ensure 'key government people' who are 'targets of terrorists are not easily under surveillance'.

How do PIs see the new legislation? Will it make their work more difficult?

PI and former police officer Lionel de Souza said: 'I guess there's no problem when it comes to matrimonial or business matters.

'Still, in the course of investigations, the PI may enter into unchartered territory. For example, if you follow the politician to a meet-the-people session and you take photos of him and his constituents, you may be acting against public interest.'

Under the bill, approval is also needed to investigate foreign government representatives and diplomats, or if information is to be gathered or surveillance is to be done in protected areas.

Such areas include foreign diplomatic missions or consulates, government buildings, immigration checkpoints and private schools with mostly foreign students.

Mr Wong said that in the post-9/11 security environment, it is crucial to not just enhance national security, but also upgrade the professional standards in the private security industry.

'In both the Marriott and Australian Embassy bombings in Jakarta, security personnel had approached the vehicles loaded with explosives before they were driven up to the buildings,' he said.

'As a result, the suicide bombers detonated their bombs earlier than planned - before they could position their vehicles near the buildings, where the explosion would have caused many more casualties.'

Hmm?

If you know that you'll be dying at around the age of 70.

Would you rather withdraw all your CPF savings by 62, plan everything out so that you can live comfortably..

OR

Be forced to join this ... annuity thing and despite knowing you'll die at 70 from medical illnesses or whatsoever, get only $700 a month, and unable to get more out of it?

You KNOW you have money in the CPF or annuity, but NO you cannot get it.
Tui or not?
